Based on last year’s participant and sponsor feedback, we’ve continued to iterate the experience, and are introducing a few exciting changes for 2018!
Stories from our community
First is this blog; your go-to resource for information about the awards. Here you’ll find deadline information, get to know our sponsors, and hear the success stories of past participants. From technology schools, to digital agencies, to staffing organizations, we’ll be featuring individuals and organizations that play an important role in the UX community.
Welcome back, UX for Marketing!
Also new for 2018 is the re-introduction of the UX for Marketing Award. Based on feedback from you, our community, we felt that this category needed to stand alone to capture and recognize user experiences tied to e-commerce, customer experience, campaigns, contests, and other solutions that succeed in connecting customers to organizations in authentic and impactful ways.
Evolving the judging process
We’ve also updated the evaluation format to give finalists more interaction with the judges during the deliberation process. In addition to this added touchpoint, this year’s panel of judges will offer a fresh perspective and share their insight on great user experiences.
Submissions will be evaluated based on four familiar criteria: clarity, impact, elegance, and innovation. However, after last year’s evaluation process, we recognized that solutions don’t always evoke joy. Remember how impactful the student ACLU and Kudoz projects were? Joy wasn’t the emotion that described that experience, but they were extremely emotionally engaging. As a result of the feedback from our judging panel, we’ve refined the criteria from “joy” and shifted to evaluating solutions based on the “emotion” they evoke, which may range from joy or to concern to passion for a cause.
New leadup event: workshop coming this fall!
Our sponsor Domain7 will be facilitating a workshop for the VanUX Community leading up to the fall agenda of events. More details to come about this awesome hands-on way to participate and extend your expertise in the lead up to the awards.
We’ll be updating this space regularly. Follow along as we gear up for this year’s event, stay tuned for the opening of the submission process later this summer, and mark your calendars for November 29th!
